February 04, 2024 — 2 hours before midnight.
Have you ever been to a Lunar New Year party? I haven't. And I was pretty nervous and excited.
This was my second night at AMPM. I was still learning the location — still getting familiar with the lights, the music, the timing and the people. These are all critical things to know when it comes to live events. I was still learning the ropes and this was a big night. I was told of Dragons flying, live instruments, and a f*ck tonne of people. So this was bound to be a crazy night.
We fast forward to 11:30pm. People are starting to roll in. I meet new kids who came there to have a good time. A little wasted for their own good but they had a good time. I met Neo, the resident photographer for AMPM. And I met Oliver — he's making these crazy visual effects for AMPM's social media.
Drinks were served. Music is being blasted. And then come the Dragons. Pretty wicked sight to me. They did this wonderful 10-15 minute set with full on costumes and choreography. Solid work considering the fact that it was PACKED and they had to maneuver through a sea of people with limited vision. The folks handling the live instruments were in position. They were located right next to the DJ booth on top of the big speaker system. They did their thing, and the crowd was silent in pure admiration and anticipation. When the performance was done, the night carried on.
