In this series of AMPM Friday Nights I will capture lifestyle photography, the vibe, the forgettable inebriated moments, and the music.
January 26, 2024 — 2 hours before midnight.
I arrive on location for the first of my 120 nights at AMPM.
Here's the deal, I'm not a club person. I do love photography and I love cash. I already have an extensive knowledge on lowlight photography and lifestyle and that's what I came to offer. And creating a series of unforgettable memories while getting paid well is the primary mission.
On this first chapter, I met the owners Benny and Cameron. Super chill guys. The handshake was made possible by a good friend, Tracy.
Tracy and I got acquainted many months back during a New Years eve event hosted by great friend, Diamond, at Bar Mordecai. I will never forget this because I was able to document the most amazing moments in that place ever.
Anyway, back at AMPM — I had a little conversation with Cameron at the time and he gave me a photographer rate of what they usually offer. That's cool and I accepted it via handshake. And that's how the series kicked off.
The night started with location scouting. Lots and lots of location scouting. And I do this with every new venue I go to.
I introduced myself to the DJs first and let them know I was taking photos. And then I went over to the workers and shook their hands.
The night was spent learning the lighting setup, learning the timing of the DJs. I learned there were spots where I can bounce light off and I learned spots where I can cast shadows effectively.
The night ended with a few memorable images but the most important piece was the introduction to these amazing folks at AMPM.
Hopefully, we make it to the end of the 180 nights.
